Ellen Wiener is a painter, printmaker and book artist whose work uses literary themes and sources. She often combines text and image in collaboration with poets and writers. Her work with Medieval Books of Hours includes miniatures, visual allegories and an illuminated alphabet. In addition to traditional media, some of her recent work incorporates calendars and envelopes, reinforcing relationships between language, reading and memory.
